Padmashri Shri Ibrahim N. Sutar was born on May 10, 1940, in Mahalingapur, Mudhol Taluk, Bagalkot district.
In 1970, he established the “Bhavaikya Janapada Sangeeta Melava”. For the past 44 years, he has been actively involved in literary readings, lectures, bhajans, and social service, spreading the message of unity among all great souls, fostering Hindu-Muslim unity through his sacred work.
He has authored books on spiritual enlightenment and philosophy. He has composed Paramartha Geetas and poems emphasizing the sense of unity among Indians. He has initiated a new art form called “Bhavaikya Bhakti Rasamanjari” along with a team of six artists to sing philosophical verses. They have released approximately 20 audio albums.
He has delivered messages of unity during various festivals and events using lectures and musical dialogues. He has participated in the historic Basava Shanti Jyoti Padayatra. He has also spread messages of harmony in foreign countries.
He has been honored with prestigious awards like the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award and Karnataka Kalashree Gaurava Award. Numerous awards in recognition of his selfless service in promoting unity have been conferred upon him. Throughout his life, he has aimed to spread the message of unity and foster universal love through his ideal personality.
For his lifelong achievements in the field of Sarana culture and other areas, Padmashri Shri Ibrahim N. Sutar was honored with the “Ramana Shri Sharana Lifetime Achievement Award” for the year 2019 by the Akhila Bharata Sarana Sahitya Parishat and Ramana Shri Pratishthan, with utmost love and pride.
Distinguished senior authors who have excelled in the field of literature were honored.
Dr. Jayashree Dande was born on 3rd March 1958 in Dhannur, Hunagunda Taluk, Bagalkot District. She is the daughter of Sumitra Devi and Sidramappa Angadi. She completed her primary and secondary education in Ilkal and Bagalkot respectively. Later, she obtained her M.A. degree from Karnataka University and Ph.D. from Gulbarga University in 1987.
Dr. Jayashree Dande served as a professor, lecturer, and director of Kannada Studies Institute at Gulbarga University. She also served as the director of “Basavadi Sharana Sahitya Kendra”. Following the orders of the Karnataka High Court, she worked as an assessor at the District Family Court.
Under her guidance, 15 students obtained Ph.D. degrees, and 20 students obtained M.Phil. degrees. Additionally, 8 students are currently pursuing Ph.D. studies.
In 2009-12, she completed a research project titled “Field Work on Sharana Memorials” under the Karnataka Government’s Kannada Language Development Scheme. In 2014-15, with the support of Karnataka Veerashaiva Vidya Abhivriddhi Samsthe, Bangalore, she published “12th Century Sharana Memorials, Part 2”. She has conducted extensive research on Sharana memorials, resulting in the publication of three research volumes totaling 1700 pages under the title “12th Century Sharana Memorials”.
Dr. Jayashree Dande has also earned her Ph.D. in Vachanas. She has published more than 50 works, including a lexicon of Vachanas, biographies of Sharana figures, analysis of Vachanas selected by Sharanas, and two volumes of Vachana interpretations. She also started a tri-monthly literary magazine called “Kavimarga” in Kalaburagi, where she serves as editor and publisher.
For her significant contributions to the field of Sharana literature, Dr. Jayashree Dande has received 15 awards. She has chaired important literary conferences such as the Taluka Sahitya Sammelana in Adagal and the 8th State-level Adagal Literary Conference. She has also chaired events like the “Halakatti Vachana Utsava” in Solapur and the “Dr. Jayadevitai Ligade Birth Centenary Celebrations Conference”.
Acknowledging her invaluable contributions to the field of Sharana literature, the All India Sharana Sahitya Parishat and Ramanashree Pratishtana honored her with the “Ramanashree Sharana Award” in 2019.
Prof. Siddhanna Langoti was born in 1951 in Chandakavath village of Sindagi taluk in Vijayapura district. He received his primary education in Chandakavathara and Kannolla villages, followed by secondary education at H.G. High School in Sindagi, and completed his B.Sc. from B.L.D.E.A’s College in Vijayapura. He pursued his M.A. in Philosophy, Hindi, Kannada, and LL.B. Law from Davanagere Karnataka University, and also completed C. V. Ed. yoga education.
After serving as a professor, upon retirement, he turned his focus towards literary composition. Recognized as a scholar in both Indian and Western philosophy, he is esteemed as a profound writer on the principles of Basavanna. He has authored and edited over 81 books.
In the years 1990 and 2000, he delivered lectures on Basavanna philosophy in Western countries such as England, America, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Austria, Holland, Singapore, and Arab nations, as well as in several states within the country. He has composed thousands of Vachanas under the title “Jagajyoti Basaveshwara”.
In 1977, he established the Basavatattva Propagation Institute and revived the Shiv Anubhava magazine by F.G. Halkatti. He serves as the editor of ‘Basava Belagu’ quarterly magazine. He has served in various capacities in numerous organizations and institutions. His contributions have been recognized by eminent personalities, organizations, and institutions nationally and internationally.
Acknowledging his significant contribution to modern Vachana literature, the Basava Tatva Vichara Trust and Ramanashree Foundation honored him with the “Ramanashree Basava Sharan Award” in 2019.
Pandit Devendra Kumar Pattar, who has been a direct disciple of the revered Dr. Puttaraj Gawai for the past five decades, dedicated himself to music. Starting his career as a music teacher in Shivamogga, he established a musical legacy in Sondur, Mudigere, and Sindhanur. While in Sindhanur, he conducted vocal training for hundreds of aspiring singers. Pandit Devendra Kumar Pattar, the musical magician of Ellamar, has collaborated in vocal fusion with renowned singers like Dr. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and S. Janaki.
In honor of his gurus, Dr. Puttaraj, Pandit Devendra Kumar Pattar founded the Dr. Puttaraj Music Institute, imparting musical education to thousands of students. Hundreds of melodious compositions have emanated from his musical soul.
Pandit Devendra Kumar Pattar, known for his mellifluous voice, has contributed significantly to the field of music. Apart from numerous poetic creations, his expertise spans classical music, Vachana recitals, and the rendition of devotional songs.
His initiative, “Guru-Shishya Parampare,” aimed at children’s education, is noteworthy. He has also provided musical compositions for over ten plays and several short films. The Bengaluru City Corporation honored him with the Kempegowda Award. He has been a recipient of many prestigious awards across the state.
Pandit Devendra Kumar Pattar established the Akhila Karnataka Ganayogi Swarasandhya Trust, offering music training to enthusiasts. His remarkable achievements were recognized with the “Ramanashree Sharan Prashasti” by the All India Sharana Sahitya Parishat and the Ramanashree Foundation in 2019.
The Heartland of Sri Tontadaraya Math, Gadag’s Contribution to the Lingayat Mathas that have been associated with the Anubhava Mantapa, and its significant contribution to education and Dasoha in Karnataka since the 20th century. This ongoing publication is titled “Dasoha.”
Established the Lingayat Study Institute, which in the last four decades has tirelessly worked in the form of universities and broadcasting, and the publications from the revered Math have captured the attention of the general public and scholars alike.
Among the publications of this century in Lingayatism, significant works include the writings of the ‘Lingayat Punyapurusha Male’ and works on Vachana literature, considered the third stage in the history of Vachana literature publication.
While some Mathas in Karnataka are known for their Dasoha, and others for their educational Dasoha, the Gadag Sri Math’s contribution to Dasoha, in terms of published books in the last 45 years, stands at 343. In addition to this, there are compilations of the sayings of Lingayat Punyapurushas, children’s literature gems, comprehensive literary gems, government-published literature from the revered Math, and publications about revered personalities/ Math.
Acknowledging the invaluable service of Dr. M.M. Kalburgi Study Institute in Gadag, and the tireless efforts in the publication and dissemination of the Dasoha literature, the Jagadguru Sri Siddharama Tontadaraya Mahaswami, the President of the Institute, has been honored with great joy by the Akhila Bharat Sharana Sahitya Parishat and the Ramanashree Foundation, with the “Ramanashree Sharana Award” in 2019.

Dr. K. Ravindranath, currently serving as a professor in the Department of Kannada Studies at Kannada University, hails from the agricultural family of Ambali village in Kottur taluk of Ballari district. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Arts with first rank from Hosapete Vijayanagara College and obtained his M.A. (Kannada) degree in first class with three gold medals from Gulbarga University. He also earned a doctoral degree for his dissertation titled “Service of Monasteries to Kannada Literature.”
Dr. Ravindranath’s research interests include Old Kannada, Vachana literature, epigraphy, manuscript editing, Lingayatism, and Sharanas’ studies. He has been actively engaged in scholarly pursuits and research in the field of Kannada literature, particularly focusing on the Sharanas for the past 20 years. He has authored more than 50 works on various topics including Vachana literature, Uddharaṇa literature, Gundabrahmaiah’s literature, Kannada criticism, Sharanas’ culture, Amarashwara Purana, Siddharama Sampada, Kannada archival literature, and history. His major research works such as “Amarakalyana,” “Dharmakalyana,” “Vachana Tīkā Sāhitya: Ondu Adhyayana,” “Vachana Sahitya: Srujanashīla Anusandhānada Nalegalu,” “Nūruondu Viraktharu: Ondu Adhyayana,” “Karnataka Lingayat Rāṇiaru: Ondu Adhyayana,” “Shivayogamaṇḍira: Ondu Adhyayana,” and “M. M. Kalburgi’s Vachana Vyavasaya” are considered notable contributions in his field.
As the Head of the Department of Kannada Studies, Principal Investigator at the Kudal Sangama International Vachana Study Center, Academic Deputy Secretary, and Director of Research, he has rendered commendable service. His achievements have been recognized by institutions such as the Karnataka Sahitya Academy, Kannada Book Authority, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, and the Suttur Mutt, where he has received various awards and honors.
Dr. K. Ravindranath’s dedication to the research and study of Sharan literature has earned him the prestigious “Ramanashri Sharan Uthejana Award” from the Akhil Bharat Sharan Sahitya Parishat and the Ramanashri Pratishthan in 2019.
B.S.C. Padmavathi, despite being a homemaker, is deeply passionate about literature and culture. Her father, Dr. Guda Raju, was a government physician. Her mother, Seethamma, was the former member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Dr. Mahadev Banakar’s wife.
Having received primary, secondary, and pre-university education in Koppal, they moved to Kudligi. Padmavathi completed her undergraduate education at Bangalore’s Vidhyavardhaka Mahila College and her postgraduate education at K.L.E. College.
In 1980, Padmavathi embarked on married life with Mr. Basavaraj Banakar. Their marital union bore two children, a son named Sandeep and a daughter named Arpitha.
From childhood, Padmavathi displayed a keen interest in literature, garnering praise for her excellent essays and poems as a student. Later, she turned her attention to Vachana literature. She has authored numerous works, including anthologies of poems, Vachana compilations, and other literary pieces like ‘Anuvara (Kavya)’ and ‘Inner Vachanagalu of Basavaprabhu.’ In 2017, she was honored with the ‘Vatsala Nanjundiah Sharan Datti Award.’
Recognizing Padmavathi Basavaraj Banakar’s achievements, the Akhila Bharata Sharana Sahitya Parishat and Ramanashree Prathisthana awarded her the prestigious “Ramanashree Sharan Utsava Award” in 2019.
Miss Pavani Kashinath’s predecessors were all renowned Karnataka classical music scholars. Her father, Vidwan A.V. Kashinath, was a respected artist known for playing various percussion instruments. Her mother, Vidushi Puspha Kashinath, was a renowned veena player in Karnataka.
From a very young age, Miss Pavani began her music training under the guidance of Vidushi A.R. Chandikar. She later continued her training for many years under the renowned guru Vidushi Neelaram Gopal. She also learned to sing Vachanas from her mother, Kumudini Tai.
While pursuing a degree in Medical Electronics Engineering, she also obtained a postgraduate degree in music, achieving gold medals in 2019.
At the age of 16, she won first prizes in two categories at a national-level music competition organized by “Akashvani” and earned a Grade ‘A’ twice for her exceptional singing.
Her performances in classical music concerts, where she flawlessly sang complex and rare ragas, earned her widespread acclaim. Winning the first prize in state-level veena competitions was another remarkable achievement. She was honored as the youngest singer in a music competition organized by Akashvani in 2016.
She also performed at the prestigious Madras Music Academy’s Youth Music Festival and her rendition of “Jagamohana Krishna” was aired by Times Now. Apart from being a recipient of the Raga Sri, Pratibha Kankshi, and Gaana Ratna awards, she has received numerous other accolades.
Recognizing Miss Pavani Kashinath’s accomplishments, the Akhil Bharat Sahitya Parishad and the Ramanashree Foundation honored her with the “Ramanashree Sharan Utsav Praise” in 2019.
The Shambhavi School of Dance institution was established in 1993 to provide training in dance and music. Mrs. Vaijayanthi Kashi, its founder, utilizes dance as therapy to empower women and children mentally and physically. They have conducted dance therapy workshops for intellectually challenged children. They possess exceptional artistic skills, able to depict intricate imagery through dance movements while wearing ankle bells.
The Shambhavi School of Dance has evolved into a center for the promotion, propagation, and training of arts. It has constructed a beautiful and well-equipped auditorium in Bangalore’s Kengeri, without any aid from private or government sources.
For the first time, certificate courses in dance are being offered to aspiring dancers. They have branches in Dharwad, Ranibennur, Kerala, and Bangalore, and also provide training to students abroad.
Every year, eminent personalities in the field of dance are honored with Natya Shastra awards. So far, Padmavibhushan Vyjayanthimala Bali, Padmabhushan Yamini Krishnamurthy, Padmashri Shobha Naidu, Mrs. Umarao, and Mrs. Sumati Kaushal have been honored.
Through exhibitions, training, national and international programs, workshops, lectures, research, storytelling, historical, moral, fictional, and creative dance presentations, the Shambhavi School of Dance is dedicated to nurturing youth talent and promoting cultural appreciation. For about 20 years, they have been presenting dance forms based on the teachings of various saints and have received much acclaim.
In recognition of their service, the Akhil Bharat Sharan Sahitya Parishad and Ramanashree Foundation conferred upon them the “Ramanashree Sharan Utsav Inspiration Award” in 2019.
